Indian Railways is the second largest railway system in the world thus it is divided into 16 zones headed by a General Manager. Each zone is divided into various divisions and each division is headed by a Divisional Railway Manager.

Vacancies of Railway Department is filled with the help of Railway Recruitment Boards ( RRBs). RRBs are the examining bodies associated with the Government of India to conduct Common Written Exam to recruit new employees for Indian Railways Department. RRBs has 21 boards all over India to hold exams for various posts :

Eligibility :

Candidates should have the Educational/Technical qualifications indicated against the notified posts in the CEN from recognized Board/NCVT/SCVT as on the closing date for submission of the ONLINE application. Refer to Annexure-A for the prescribed qualification against each of the posts. Those awaiting results of the final examination of the prescribed educational/technical qualification SHOULD NOT apply. Diploma/Degree in Engineering will not be accepted in lieu of course completed Act Apprenticeship / ITI. Also, Graduate Act Apprentice will not be accepted in lieu of Course Completed Act
Apprenticeship.

 Age Limit :

Minimum Age – 18 years
Maximum Age – 31 years

 Age Relaxation

SC/ST – 5 years
OBC – 3 years
PwD – 10 years

Exam Pattern :
  • The Exam is of Objective type i.e it consists of Multiple Choice Questions.
  • There shall be a Computer Based Test (CBT).
  • Duration of the exam is 90 Minutes.
  • There will be a negative marking of 1/3 rd for each wrong answer.
  • The exam is conducted for a total of 100 Marks including Mathematics – 25 Marks, General Intelligence and Reasoning – 25 Marks, General Science – 30 Marks and General Awareness on Current Affairs -20 Marks  as a Subjects.
